HANDCRAFTED FAÇADE

Craftsmanship, quality, and care are paramount to the Amanojak brand. A heavy, modern monotone scheme envelopes the structural space bringing the texture to the fore and elucidating the brand’s fine touches and attention to detail. Every element of the façade is customized, from the calligraphy of the store’s sign, the varietals of fabric adorning the shopping bags, and even down to the textured panels and traditional Japanese handmade washi paper parchments that make up the store’s entranceway installation

WALLS THAT TELL A STORY

Amanojak’s creative director requested this project not only to secure additional sales opportunities during the Covid-19 emergency measures period, but to promote the brand’s identity via an innovative and immersive physical experience for guests. Our answer was to remove anything from the store’s interior that would detract from customers’ appreciation of Amanojak’s products and creative vision. The walls become a medium for storytelling, the narrative playing out through the space as shoppers browse.

RETAIL SPACE DOUBLING
AS ART GALLERY

We conceived of the interior as a space where retail and art collide. Monotone walls center one’s gaze on the brand’s sense of craftsmanship. Unique fabric selections, design sketches, and photographic displays allow customers to revel in the artistry of the very same items that they browse.

THE CREATIVE PROCESS,
UNRAVELED (FEATURE WALL)

The feature wall/signature installation of the Amanojak Shibuya pop-up shop draws customers into the thick of the fashion creation process. Original design sketches reveal the initial inspiration behind the development of Amanojak’s products. The material selection and prototype development stages are on prominent display as well.

BOLDY ASSERTING IDENTITY

The entranceway installation embodies the brand’s central philosophy. Two-tone ink pairs the brand’s modern, bold font with the delicate strokes of a traditional calligrapher who was commissioned to creatively render the brand’s name in Japanese characters. A patchwork display of textured fabric accompanies the sign and previews the deconstructive décor of the store’s interior.

THE MANY FACES OF FASHION

Guests of the store will also be greeted by photographic installations that communicate the Amanojak story. Featured items are creatively depicted in tasteful and expressive ways. This feature of the interior looks more akin to the inside of a fashion designer’s workshop than a retail space.
