CAFÉ LOUNGE

The East City Shopping Mall in Xian, owned by an adjacent hotel, demonstrates the innovative application of multipurpose spatial design per unique client requests and business needs. The Café Lounge, therefore, was imagined as a space bridging the services of both the hotel and the shopping center. Hotel guests visit the area for the breakfast buffet prior to the mall’s opening hours, after which the Café Lounge opens to shoppers as well.

FOOD COURT

East City’s food court was also designed to provide unique commercial opportunities. In addition to the more traditional food court arrangements (tenant stalls, open seating plans, etc.) private rooms are also available for rent at an hourly rate. This allows for an unusual degree of privacy for what is usually a lively, bustling space, and can serve the needs of various guests.

BOOK STORE & CAFE LOUNGE

The Book Store Lounge is yet another area of the hotel where practical design accommodates business strategy, maximizing the potential commercial use and value of available space. It is common to see independent F&B tenants renting space in major book chains, though often the café space seems suspended, strangely separated from the surrounding environs. Our vision was to break down these perceived boundaries, bringing the activities of the bookstore directly into the café. They exist truly as one shared commercial space.

CHINESE FINE DINING  &
TEA HOUSE

The design plan for the East City Shopping Mall also carefully considers the cultural traditions and sentiments of the people of Xian. In this spirit, the fourth floor of the shopping center offers a stylish and sophisticated tea house for a variety of guests, as well as a fine-dining restaurant serving high-end Chinese cuisine. Guests seeking a more casual experience frequent the tea house, while those looking for privacy in luxurious accommodations can choose to rent one of the available private dining rooms.
